Album Review: “Armada Deep House Selection Vol. 4”

It’s no secret that the name “Armada” is probably best-known for its association with trance music. However, if you thought that vaulting melodies and 138 BPM was all that one could expect from Armin Van Burren‘s label, you would be sorely mistaken. Proving its capacity for great music no matter what the genre, Armada goes deep with the fourth volume in its relatively recent Deep House Selection series. Some might say it’s just riding what seems to be the latest deep house craze; however, having been a fan of the label from its early days, I choose to believe it serves as a great example of something every label should strive to do, and that is break the genre typecast and explore fantastic sounds regardless of what musical camp it belongs to.

Armada Deep House Selection Vol. 4 features 24 phenomenal tunes by some of the strongest names in music, including Booka Shade, KRONO, Maceo Plex, Kölsch and Patrick Topping.
