One of the most highly-anticipated dance music gatherings in the world, the BPM Festival, has announced its return to Mexico’s breathtaking Playa del Carmen for the eighth consecutive year. While it may not have started out with all the pomp and circumstance of, say, Ultra Music Festival, BPM has become over the years “one of the best music conferences in world,” according to techno legend Seth Troxler. While the 2015 artist lineup still hasn’t been released, we can probably expect the return of a lot of past acts, which have included heavyweights such as Lee Burridge, Loco Dice, Adam Beyer, Lee Foss, Art Department, Marco Carola, Victor Calderone and Danny Tenaglia (to name just a few). If you still need an idea of just how big of a deal this event is, consider the fact that a limited number of super early bird tickets just went on sale, and the event is scheduled to take place January 9 through January 18, 2015. Spanning 10 days and over 75 day and night parties, BPM is not for the faint of heart. Techno queen Nicole Moudaber likened the atmosphere of the festival to that of a mini summer at Ibiza, condensed into a ten day long event. Lee Burridge perhaps summed it up best: “It’s a great group of people that come with a proper sense of taste of music and not much commercialism.”
The super early bird tickets (which went onsale this Tuesday at 6 pm EDT) grant expedited access to parties over the course of the festival, and can be purchased for $450 USD at www.bpm.wantickets.com. If you plan on snagging one, you better act quickly. If you, like us, simply can’t wait another six months for the action to start, get in the mood early with Ryan Crosson’s BPM Festival Podcast 24, now available for streaming on Mixcloud. A blend of Detroit’s house and funk inspired techno and Berlin’s signature sleek and minimal sound, the podcast highlights the gorgeous points of contrast where dark, dirty and sensual meets clean and chic minimal.
