About Balaton Sound Festival

When it comes to open air festivals, you won’t find a larger one than Balaton Sound. It got its start in 2007 on the southern bank of Lake Balaton, in Hungry, and showcases international life acts and DJs. It was co-created by the people who brought us the famed Sziget Festival, and the focus is on both new acts and well-known powerhouses.

Every year since its inception, Balaton Sound has set a new attendance record and tickets typically sell out by the end of March, though the festival doesn’t begin until July. One of the factors that has led to its immense popularity is the fact that it has a true 24 hour lineup. While other festivals will rock all night long, they don’t typically have acts taking the stage at all hours of the day.

There’s tons to do inside the festival area, including numerous different stages, VIP lounges, tents, hammocks, easy chairs and even bean bags. There are also several campsites set up, each with pubs, restaurants, and cocktail bars. The Main Stage Area has a capacity of 50,000, and more than 100,000 festival-goers come out each year.

The 2014 lineup is impressive indeed: Alesso, Baauer, David Guetta, Disclosure Live, Felix da Housecat, Martin Garrix, Steve Angello, W&W, and Wiz Khalfia.
