The Isle of Wight Festival has a long and storied history in England. The original run went from 1968 to 1970, but after unexpectedly high attendance at the last festival, Parliament passed a law that specifically prevented large gatherings on the Isle of Wight. For more than 30 years, the ideal location was without a festival, until it was revived in 2002 and came back better than ever before.

Now held at Seaclose Park, a recreation ground just outside of Newport, it’s about to enter its 11^th year. Previous headliners have included acts like The Rolling Stones, R.E.M., Coldplay, The Police, Kings of Leon, and Paul McCartney.

This year’s full lineup has not yet been announced, though we do know Biffy Clyro, Calvin, and Harris will be there. Festival-goers can come for a single day or buy a pass for the entire festival, which runs from June 12 – June 15. To take in the full experience, many take advantage of the numerous camping opportunities on the island, including Eve’s Tipis, which offer a unique way to get a little shuteye between sets.
