About Kahbang Music and ArtKahBang has quickly become one of the largest indie discovery festivals in New England. Each year over 75 performers play in venues across downtown Bangor throughout the festival, culminating with approximately 30 musical acts performing on the waterfront festival grounds on the final two days of the festival.
The festival was founded in 2009 by Timothy Lo and Chas Bruns, featuring acts including Matt and Kim, Ra Ra Riot,Ida Maria, April Smith, Royal Bangs, The Gay Blades and The Killing Moon.
In 2010 the festival expanded to include a film festival. Like its counterparts, the film festival focused on showcasing emerging filmmakers and independently produced works. The inaugural lineup of films included the Maynard James Keenan documentary Blood Into Wine and the indie feature comedy New Low.
The headliners for the 2010 Music Festival featured viral video icons OK Go, and hip hop artist B.o.B. The lineup also included performances by Bad Rabbits, Free Energy and Hey Marseilles, drawing over 6,000 people on the final day of performances.
