Lollapalooza Argentina at Hipodromo de San Isidro

Head out to Argentina for the first ever Lollapalooza Argentina Festival. The original Lollapalooza has been taking place in Chicago, Illinois for decades, and only in 2011 did festival-promoters start taking their show on the road. After the success of Lollapalooza Chile, they’re finally expanding to Chile, where the first annual event will take place on April 1^st and 2^nd 2014.

Headliners this year include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix, Nine Inch Nails, Cage the Elephant, Soundgarden, Arcade Fire, Kid Cudi, Pixies, Vampire Weekend, Imagine Dragons, Axwell, Julian Casablancas, Ellie Goulding, New Order, Kid Cudi, Capital Cities, Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, and Lorde. Chile’s Lollapalooza Festival has been drawing crowds of more than 100,000 since its first year, and crowds are expected to be well into the 100,000 range in Argentina in 2014. Early Bird tickets that included ½ price admission were sold out within hours, which is a good indication of the level of excitement about this lineup.

While there is a large focus on internationally successful alternative and rock groups, Lollapalooza also incorporates local musicians. You’ll see the main acts on the main stages, but spread throughout the festival grounds are plenty of side stages that give festival-goers a great opportunity to discover up and coming Argentinian bands.
