DJOYbeat Event Spotlight
Discotek ft. Jamie Schwabl, Contessa, Dyla, and Jeska Marie Claire @ The Cosmo, Friday, June 13
Discotek this week features an especially sexy, all-girl lineup. The lineup boasts some of the scene’s hottest talent (pun intended) and is one of the events we highly encourage you not to miss. Behind the decks, these women are technically masterful, infectiously energetic, and when it comes to beats… they seriously bring it. Don’t let looks fool you. No “trophy” DJs here, just some serious disco powerhouses who know how to sling beats and make you move. The Thursday night event is already becoming a staple hub for real house lovers with its high energy and uplifting communal vibe. If you haven’t made it out yet, this is a fantastic week to meet us on the dancefloor.

A Rave Called “RA”: Full Moon Fantasy Costume Party @ 333 Live DTLA
This Friday marks the rare occasion when a full moon falls on the same night as Friday the 13th. The last time this occurred was October of 2000 and it won’t happen again for 45 years, until August of 2049. Extravagant costume designer/stage performer, Perish Dignam, is throwing a massive, Egyptian-themed costume rave to celebrate the “rare and magical full moon occasion.” The event will be held in Downtown LA at the two-story, special event, mega-club called 333Live. The layout spans over 55,000 spacious square feet and includes a main ballroom with multiple other rooms, providing an optimal venue for an affair of this caliber. The lineup includes over 25 DJs and each room will feature a different genre, so there is something to satisfy every EDM-loving attendee. The experience will be complete with seductive belly dancers, tarot card readers, Egyptian makeover stations, a hookah lounge, fire dancers, and “giant electric pyramids sculpted from laser-light and wild-projection.” A Rave Called “RA” is an 18+ event and tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.

SoundsLike Summer Terrace ft. Trent Cantrelle, Lee Reynolds, Tara Brooks, and Surprise Guest at Room 86
This Sunday Funday dance party is dominating the Hollywood house music scene. SoundsLike Resident DJ and label boss, Trent Cantrelle, told DJOYbeat “if last week is any sign of what’s to come for SoundsLike this summer, we need to make sure the roof is screwed on tight.” This Sunday, we will get down to the sounds of Trent Cantrelle, Lee Reynolds, Tara Brooks, and a super secret surprise guest. Dodging our journalistic prods as to who the “secret guest” may be, Trent just teased us saying, “This week I’m very excited to have Lee Reynolds and Tara Brooks of Desert Hearts, plus a secret SECRET guest… an old-schooler who I go way back with.” Hopefully the anticipation doesn’t kill you before Sunday, so hold tight until it’s time to throw those dancing shoes on and once again, “meet me at the terrace.”
