DJOYbeat Event Spotlight
Eva Shaw @ Story, Friday July 19
If you look up at the Story nightclub marquee this Friday night, you will see the name Eva Shaw, but you probably already know her by her alias, DJ Bambi. More than just a pretty face, though, Eva has proven herself just as talented as she is beautiful, earning residencies at lucrative clubs and venues in Las Vegas, Toronto and Atlantic City. Her sound is an eclectic cross between high energy big room melodic and dirty Dutch electro house, with strong acid and tribal house influences. At the risk of sounding cheesy, we like to think of it as a kaleidoscope of genres. Intrigued? Experience the magic for yourself this Friday night as the Dutch and Canadian beauty takes over Story nightclub on South Beach.

Link and Miami Rebels present Robert Hood @ Trade
Trade may have started out as one of Miami’s best keep secrets, but its acts like this one that have catapulted it to the top of our best in nightlife hot spots list. One of the original members of the legendary group, “the Underground Resistance” Robert Hood is considered one of the founding fathers of minimal techno by many electronic music aficionados. You may know him by his long list of aliases which include Monobox, Inner Sanctum, The Vision and H&M, but if you are well versed in the techno and underground scenes, you will definitely recognize his signature sleek, stripped back sound. This Thursday, the legend will be touching down in South Beach at our beloved Trade to show the newcomers to the scene what good music sounds like. Head over if you are looking for some dark sounds and a one of a kind performance.
Just Dance presents Norman Doray @ LIV
For over a decade now, Frenchman Norman Doray has consistently proven himself a global force to be reckoned with in the electronic dance music world, and its no surprise why: from his unpredictable high octane production style to his energy fueled and dance floor driven DJ sets, nobody gets a crowd jumping like Doray. If you are the kind of person who likes to get his or her weekend started off hands in the air with both feet off the ground, you won’t want to miss his Thursday night set at Miami’s one and only LIV nightclub. World renowned artist and LIV’s longstanding resident Mednas will be warming up the floor.
Wall Anniversary and Miami Swim Week Celebration with DJ Reach and Caroline D’Amor @ Wall Lounge
This week is Miami Swim Week, and the W Hotel in South Beach is going all out. In honor of the most fabulous week in Miami and the five year anniversary of their über chic Wall Lounge, they have enlisted the aid of the beautiful DJ Caroline D’Amore (you might her by her world famous radio show, Heartbeatz, which initially put her name on the map) and SKAM artist DJ Reach. If you are looking to spend the night in an intimate setting that embodies the word “opulence,” you won’t want to consider anything other than lounging around VIP style at Wall.
Minimax and Un_Mute Events present Cultivate/Osmosis Audio @ Treehouse
Given our city’s reputation as one of the dance music capitals of the world, you’d think we have more locally based record labels to boast of. Osmosis Audio is one of the few, showcasing a host of local talent that specializes in the fusion of techno, tech house, dub and all that’s unique and experimental. This Thursday night, party with the crew as they offer up a sampling of the label’s latest and greatest at Treehouse.

LINK and Miami Rebels present D’Julz @ Trade
Paris native DJ and producer D’Julz has been all about the grove since 1992. A regular headliner at parties and clubs such as Fabric London, Circoloco DC10, Panorama Bar in Berlin and Amnesia Ibiza, D’Julz is a master of cross-switch and genre transcendence. For a night full of bumping bass, you can make your way down to South Beach to catch him this Friday setting the tone at our beloved Trade nightclub.
Behrouz @ Do No Sit On the Furniture
If you missed Behrouz last weekend at Story, or perhaps aren’t a fan of the whole mega club setting, you can catch him this Friday at a place he’s long referred to as home: Do Not Sit. If flashing light shows and bottle service really aren’t your thing, we think you’ll find this venue’s cozy atmosphere and artsy decor a little bit more welcoming. Local favorites Nova Duet and Jeremy Ismael will be warming up the dance floor.
The Knocks with Parrot Jungle 95, Will Buck and Artime @ Bardot
New York City’s favorite tag team B-Roc and JPatt are back in the Magic City and they’re bringing their trademark off-kilter, indie dance sound to Bardot’s red carpet this Friday night. If you’ve only ever seen their live acts, you’ll definitely want to check out their DJ set – we promise it’ll get the dance floor moving before you’ve even had the chance to get yourself settled. They will be joined by the enigmatic Parrot Jungle 95, fellow New Yorker Will Buck and Miami native and scratch champion Artime.
Super Fridays presents Excision @ Mansion
Whoever says dubstep is dead obviously has not been to an Excision show. When he’s not busy running his Destroid Music label imprint, he’s on the road on one of his famous watts of bass tours. This Friday, Excision will be taking over the decks at Mansion as their headlining act for this week’s edition of Super Friday’s at Mansion. If you like your music loud and your drops dirty, we suggest you pencil this party into your weekend party schedule.
Julian Ingrosso @ SET
Just over a year ago, we couldn’t have been more excited to welcome Julian Ingrosso as one of the most recent additions to the resident DJ family at SET night club on South Beach. This Saturday, we’ll be showing our support for 10 year Miami resident one again during his performance as part of SET’s summer party series. In case the last name sounded familiar to you, yes he is related to Sebastian Ingrosso (his brother, to be exact), so its safe to say musical talent runs in his blood.
Committee presents David Solano @ Liftoff at Space
If you live in Miami and are underage, night life can kind of suck. Luckily for all you kiddos out there, Space and Committee Entertainment have recently brought back their 18+ party series called Liftoff at Space. For this Friday’s festivities, they’ve commissioned Life in Color veteran David Solano to take over the party. Expect a festival style set this weekend in the Terrace room.

Saturday, June 28
Camea @ Space
Camea’s sound has been described, according to Resident Advisor, as “Seattle cool meets Brooklyn edge meets Berlin chic.” While those of us who have witnessed the Clink Recordings label boss in action can certainly attest to her expertise behind the decks, we invite you to experience her sounds for yourself this Saturday at Space in Downtown Miami. We advise that you arrive before 12:30 am to avoid having to pay a cover charge.
LINK and Miami Rebels present Stacey Pullen @ Underground Story
If you haven’t heard of Stacey Pullen, you don’t really know techno. This is your opportunity to get a little bit of education, though, and we suggest you take advantage of it. The Detroit heavyweight will be headlining at Story for this week’s edition of Underground Story. If you’ve never been to the party before, think of it as the perfect combination of underground sounds and the allure of a VIP Miami mega club. This is the only night of the week when dress code is lax, so take advantage and bust out those jeans and v-neck tees (we suggest you leave the flip flops at the beach, though).
Starfukcer Saturdays presents Lucky Date @ Mokai
Miami is getting lucky indeed this weekend (pun partially intended). San Francisco raised DJ and producer Lucky Date will be hosting this week’s edition of Starfucker Saturdays at Mokai. One of the most sought after producers and remixers in the world right now, Lucky Date has made a name for himself just as equally through his full sensory live performances as through his signature big room sound. You can bank on a set that is sure to be high in energy and chock full of surprises (and we mean that both in regards to the music and to Lucky’s antics… if you’ve ever seen him perform, you know he’s never been one to stand in place).
Cocodrills @ Mansion
Miami loves the Cocodrills, and after hearing them play once, its apparent why. While their tribal, tech-y, home grown house style is nowhere near the big room electro sound that you might otherwise expect at a super club like Mansion, this is a duo that knows how to read a dance floor and has figured out the key ingredient that is guaranteed to get even the most hesitant revelers moving: a thick bassline with a hell of a groove. Catch the Miami residents this Saturday at Mansion if you want to know the real definition of the word “funk.”
John Dahlback @ Wall Lounge
Swedish producer John Dahlback has more going for him than just his Nordic good looks; the Mutant Records and Pickadoll Records label boss has never failed to disappoint in his live performances, whether he’s in the mood for big room progressive or minimal techno (both of which he pulls off exceedingly well). You can catch him this Saturday at the W Hotel South Beach’s luxe Wall Lounge, where we’re hoping he’ll throw down some deeper sounds than what we’re used to.
Four Color Zack @ Bardot
He describes himself as a technically dazzling “DJ’s DJ” and pop party rocker all rolled up into one, and while his performance repertoire includes a wide range of venues from arenas to Las Vegas super clubs to underground warehouse style parties, we are pretty confident his set at Bardot will keep the groove thick and party low-key. If you’re looking for more of a chill night this Saturday, you’ll definitely want to check this party out.

Sunday, June 20
Moska @ Story
His DJ name, Moska, comes from a nickname his childhood friends gave to him in his hometown of Cali in Columbia. Its typically means “hyped,” “alert” and “intuitive,” and we couldn’t have come up with better adjectives to describe his live sets and persona behind the decks. Supported by the likes of Tiësto, Afrojack, Angger Dimas, Dillon Francis and Laidback Luke (to name a few), Moska’s high intensity progressive house sound has put him on the radar of more than a few top tier venues, and we’re thrilled to be welcoming him back to Story to help us end our weekend with a serious bang.
Jim Jones @ LIV
If you missed Jim Jones at Wall Lounge on Friday with D-Lux, you can catch him at LIV this Sunday night for Miami’s premier hip hop oriented party series, #LIVOnSunday. The Harlem raised rapper will be joined onstage by Grammy award winning hip hop producer Stevie J and electronic dance music resident QuickSilva.
Patrick M @ SET
To see Patrick M spin at the Terrace room in space is to see a master in his own element. This week, though, the legendary Space resident takes on the intimate and ultra glamorous SET nightclub on South Beach, giving club kids the opportunity to close out Swim Week in the most fabulous way possible. For those of you born in raised in the city, this is what outsiders think of when they imagine Miami nightlife.
