DJOYbeat Spotlight
Boys Noize & Baauer @ Governor’s Beach Club (Sunday, August 10)
If you’re not at the Beach Club on Sunday, you may have to have your judgement thrown into question. No offense. It’s just, well, um, it’s freakin’ BOYS NOIZE! 1/2 of Dog Blood. Owner of EDM’s most badass unibrow, and some of the dirtiest rave music in the world today. Making things that much more intense will be Baauer. If they were to somehow put something on together, the island may cave in on itself from the awesomeness. Science.

The Weekend Rundown
Thursday, August 7
The Revolution ft. Helena (FREE PARTY) @ Pacha
Helena kicks Pacha off with some electro house this weekend. The lady that reps the UK and Australia is known for bringing some serious heat on the decks. If you’re looking for an early weekend face melt, hit up the FREE PARTY.
DJ Sliink @ Webster Hall
Anyone who works with Trippy Turtle is good by me. That aside, Sliink plays some fun, easy to dance to electronic hip-hop. This should be a fun night at Webster. Thursdays’ hip-hop heavy bills are a mainstay you might want to check out this week.
Input – Mr. Carmack, Djemba Djemba and Noah Breakfast @ Output
Underrated show of the weekend contender right here. Mr. Carmack and Djemba Djemba bring equally creative but different sets to vibe to. It’ll be fun, dark, heavy, light. A lot of a lot, to be honest. If you’re not sold, Mr. Carmack remixed 112’s “Dance With Me.” That’s like making “Thriller.”

The Hood Internet @ Le Poisson Rouge
Some of you out there love mashups. Others, not so much. That being said, here’s the Hood Internet. To be fair, the Chicago duo also have a slew of originals to go with their mashed arsenal. The guys usually get the crowds moving. You know you’ll have fun.
Tchami @ Marquee
French and house you say, Marquee? Okay. In. The French just seem to have a slight bit better control than the rest of the world when it comes to house. No offense but the French can always do something fun and creative with a house track. Tchami falls right into that category.
Sultan & Ned Shepard – Lose IT: The Black Light Party @ Pacha
Sultan and Ned Shepard bring Pacha’s bread and butter home. With an uplifting progressive set, you know you are in for a night of good feels. Make sure you’re with a good crowd, isolate the one creeper that’s bound to be there and fade away to some airy, good vibes.
Cajmere [residency launch], Motez, Shiba San at Verboten
Cajmere (aka Green Velvet) launches his residency that is sure to run the house gamet. Be ready for some deep, some tech and some other awesome stuff dropped in. With Shiba San turning the tempo up just a bit, house should be in full swing at Verboten.
Girls & Boys presents Infected Mushroom @ Webster Hall
You ready for this, Webster? You be better. Some legit psytrance is about the be thrust straight into your faces. Some of you will lose face. It’s okay. It’s sure to return, but not at anytime Infected Mushroom are on stage.

Saturday, August 9
Fixed presents Detroit Swindle, Shit Robot, JDH & Dave P with the Deep in the Panther Room @ Output
Output brings some heavy house Saturday night. Nothing surprising here. Output plays good house. It’s not always for everyone, and they like it that way. It’s cool, but sometimes not. Don’t take photos and enjoy some solid house.
Discovery with DJ Nature and Jay Simon @ Glasslands Gallery
Subtly and murky funk seem to be the ways Discovery is getting labeled this week. Should be interesting. With a vet like DJ Nature on the decks you should be in for an interesting night of tracks. Live up to the name and discover some new music if you haven’t heard of these guys before.
Fur Coat, Amirali, Scarlett Etienne and Walker + Royce @ Verboten
Deep to dark. Traditional to experimental. That can be a pretty broad, but accurate, assessment of what Verboten is throwing at you Saturday. House and Brooklyn are linking up all over Saturday. There’s a few spots to scope out. This one gets the nod by just a bit over the others.
Illusion: Sleepy & Boo @ Cielo
Fans of thick drums and big bass lines, Sleepy & Boo are friends that like to play all of electronic’s stylings. Be ready for some techno and house to run most of the show. Sleepy & Boo always seem to please the Cielo crowd on the weekends.
Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano @ Governor’s Island Beach Club
Dutch progressive takes over the Beach Club with this duo. The guys are known to play some wild, pulsing music. If you like your music big (and Ryan Marciano’s hair bigger) but with some variety, check these guys out.

Sunday, August 10
Sunday Brunch: Dory, Joe Foxton and Down Deep @ Verboten
Deep spacey house and weird techno. Those are Joe Foxton’s words to describe his music. Thrown that in with Down Deep and what you might expect from his name, and you’ve got a pretty eclectic brunch. If your head can take the variety, head over to BK.
Jify’s and American Apparel present Disco Brunch with Facets, DJ Chupacabras @ Cameo Gallery
House and funky tech should be on full display at Cameo. With Facets and DJ Chupacabras working things, you are probably going to be dancing to some pretty original stuff. Not a bad way to close out the weekend, right?
Digital Lab @ EVR
Looking to send the weekend out with a bang? How about a thunderous boom? If that’s the case, scope out Digital Lab. The man from Miami should be able to knock any last remaining energy out of you by the end of his set on Sunday.
