When BT put out a challenge for best remix producer, electronic music trio Chomstars answered the call – and won. The feat comes as no surprise, given that they kicked off their career by winning a remix contest for Lights. Throw in consequent victories in both the FromDJs4DJs worldwide mix contest and the Discovery Project, and it seems Colin Youngwall, Jordan Hewitt and Nate Martorano are just destined to continue winning.
Still wheeling from the honor of having progressive trance pioneer BT choose their tune “Granulation” as the winner of his Beatport production competition, the trio gives us another stellar edit of a dance floor hit that’s even better suited for a club environment.
Chomstar’s remix of Zander Bleck’s “Dirty Love Song” stays true to its name. The electronic music outfit takes the tune straight to the big room with sweeping breakdowns and massive electro house drops.
“For this remix, we really wanted the instrumentation and arrangement to bolster the emotional impact of Zander’s powerful pop vocal,” said the trio.
Unlike the more melodic progressive house feel of their upcoming Stargazing EP, the remix brings a proper undeniably electro sound, and it hits hard and dirty where it matters most on the dance floor – in the bass-heavy drops and in the surging beats that serves as the pulse of the track.
This one’s as edgy as they come, with a futuristic twist that is refreshing to hear after a long period of predictable bangers in the electro house scene.
