We complain about over-played anthems, but one song I was happy to hear over and over again was Ivan Gough and Feenixpawl’s “In My Mind.” For many, it became the star number of the soundtrack for Winter Music Conference 2012, and hearing it still conjures memories of my own first WMC. Now, two years after the release of their Grammy-nominated hit, the producers have partnered up again to bring us the official follow-up to “In My Mind.” Titled “Hear Me,” the track features vocals by Brooklyn-based songstress Christine Hoberg. Following in the steps of “In My Mind,” warm piano chords usher the melody in and gradually build into a soaring crescendo of synths, while Hoberg’s voice spins a story that is purely magical. The tune is simultaneously haunting and euphoric—the melodies nod to trance while the driving rhythm and four-on-the-floor beat make this number perfect for big-rooms and festivals. I’d say its even better than its predecessor, “In My Mind.” The original drops June 2nd via Neon Records, along with a remix package that features an electro house edit by The Only, a nu disco edit by Late Night Alumni, a drum and bass/chillstep edit by DJ Blindsight, and my personal favorite—a deep house take by Australian producer Beni. A second remix package will be out on Beatport June 16.
