About Altar BARThe Altar Bar is conveniently tucked away in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District, and a beautiful experience begins from the moment you set eyes on it. What was once the gorgeous St. Elizabeth Church is now a 3-floor, open-air venue with impressive acoustics and a capacity of 650 people.
The setup includes 2 fully-stocked bars, a VIP lounge, and a stage that’s the perfect size to create intimate memories of your favorite local or nationally touring act. Previous shows have included Neon Trees, MuteMath, Snoop Dogg, the Misfits, Less Than Jake, and Hoodie Allen.
Most shows are 18+, but they do separate the floor between 18+ and 21+. This can be an issue if your party includes people within these age ranges, but those of age will be pleased to know that there’s almost always more room on the 21+ side.
Drinks are about average for a club of this size, and the bathroom is kept tidy by an attendant, who will be there to hand out paper towels, in the hopes that you’ll hand over a $1 or two. Get there early to snag the coveted balcony spots, which without question offer the best acoustics and view in the place.
