DNA Lounge

If your taste in nightlife trends towards the more casual, dive bar-esque and unpretentious side of things, this place is probably for you.  Underground music, hipsters, kids – it’s 18+, and the feeling that comes with knowing you don’t have to get dressed up to go out, if you don’t want to, this is the DNA Lounge.

Check the events schedule before you go, because other than the industrial Death Guild party on Mondays, and the mashup-fueled, semi-famous Bootie party on Saturdays, you’re just as likely to find death metal shows, hip hop concerts, or…Prince (he played a few shows there recently).  Along with DJs and live music, DNA Lounge hosts loads of other cool events, from burlesque shows, drag shows, spoken word events and more.

The main room consists of a decent-sized, wall-to-wall dance floor, with a stage at one end, and a bar at the other.  Benches and cocktail tables dot the walls.  Behind and above the stage is a lounge area, with additional seating and its own DJ setup. The upstairs balcony overlooks the main floor on three sides, and provides a good view of the action below.  Also attached to the main space and upstairs lounge area, is another space called Above DNA, which operates as a separate space some nights, but is generally connected to the rest of the club for bigger shows.  The DNA Lounge also offers a kitchen/diner operating 24 hours.  The diner offers free wifi, and webcasts of the fun going on in the club. Fair warning, it’s a cash only bar.
