El Chapandaz

El Chapandaz is a familiar bar famous for the exclusive cocktails, especially the “Leche de pantera” (“Panther milk”) cocktail, a singular recipe that many people enjoy. Also known as “The Cave”, El Chapandaz has a singular decoration which surprises almost every visitor: the inside of the bar appears to be made of stone, so it literally looks like a cave. It was established in 1971 and it keeps on being one of the best known bars in Madrid. Perfect for having the first drinks of the night (it closes at 3.00 am) and chatting with friends while sitting on their lovely wooden chairs, this bar brings you an intimacy which is hard to find in Madrid nowadays. The drinks are served in large glasses (up to 6 liters in just one glass!) so you can share them with your friends. Furthermore, they have a program with many parties of varied styles and you can book the bar if you wish to celebrate a party there. DJ sessions don’t happen daily, but they are delicate and uncommon sessions, with no mainstream music and with the same intimate mood of the whole bar itself.
