Still going strong after over 25 years this north London club is also known as the Islington Metal Works. With several rooms and a grimy underground atmosphere they’ve been delivering warehouse style parties for longer than most of the punters have been alive. Club night Slimelight has been running here since 1987 and claims to be the oldest alternative deck club night in the world.

Also a live music venue it has a varied collection of nights ranging from acoustic guitars to pounding techno. In general they find the right room for the DJ, ensuring the dance floor always seems packed. Come here to get sweaty and dance without inhibition and check the listings for the dose of electronic music that suits your tastes. It’s a good place to see experimental live acts mixing a variety of styles on the drum loops and laptops.
