McGurks’ is such a welcoming Irish bar that you’ll find every type of person seated on the stools, from blue-collar folks just getting off work, to the regular neighborhood bunch, to the preppy west-count types there on weekends. With rousing, sing-a-long music and arguably the best Guinness pour in St. Louis, there’s no question this is an Irish bar worth contending with.

The music here is squarely in the Irish category. The stage is tiny and there’s Irish music seven nights a week. Sometimes it’s a rowdy sing-a-long, others its traditional tunes, or jigs played by nationally touring folk musicians.

No matter what night of the week you visit, or what type of music is playing, one thing is true: There is a ton of exceptional food available at McGurk’s. The burgers are huge, the pesto tortellini will make you forget you’re eating in a pub, and the Bailey’s cheesecake tops the evening off perfectly.

For over 35 years, McGurk’s has been bringing a little bit of Ireland to St. Louis, and in 2011, Esquire magazine named it as one of the top 100 bars in the country.
