About The Middle East Restaurant And NightclubThe Middle East Restaurant and Nightlcub has been family owned and operated since 1974. Step through the doors and you’ll find yourself in the driver’s seat, thanks to the many options: four live music rooms and three dining rooms.
Depending on the night you go, and which room you spend your time in, you may see the space packed with college Freshmen (on most nights it’s 18+), young professionals, club kids, or local hipsters obsessed with finding the newest band. Because they have so many music rooms, and those rooms vary so greatly in size, you’ll see everything from nationally touring bands to local solo artists making their stage debut –sometimes on the same night!
The main area of this venue is known as “The Corner” and features a bright red and yellow bar and dining room. This is typically where the indie crowd hangs out, as it’s primarily used as the acoustic stage. Hard rock is played in the graffiti-tagged “Downstairs”, where you’ll also find several bars. The “Upstairs” space offers a mellow vibe and intimate music, as well as quirky décor like seating made form a bench of a Volkswagen van.
Zuzu’s may be the room with the most personality. It’s a laidback weeknight lounge with plenty of mirrors and Christmas lights, which easily transform the space into a bumping dance part on the weekend. This is the spot to find DJs mixing funk, R&B, and vintage soul.
