The latest project from NY nightlife impresario Amy Sacco, and directly inspired by her success with in NY with the uber-cool No. 8, the Rec Room is fast becoming another favorite among the locals, not simply for its atmosphere, but because it is a whole different experience than what they can find at any of the hot spots surrounding it in the heart of the South Beach glitz and glam scene on Collins Ave. Music ranges from indie-house, to disco, soul, funk and old school hip hop, with a rotating lineup of guest DJs.
Smallish, intimate, and unassuming in its impressive faithfulness to its theme of a very grown up rec room, it has become a haven for models, graffiti artists, media types all come together for their own little party away from the majority of the tsunami of tourists.
