About Taboó

Taboó is much more than a simple nightclub. This multipurpose space is intended to awaken the senses of the audience. Located in the very heart of Malasaña, the most cosmopolitan and alternative district in Madrid, it has a large history behind it. It was first established in 1989, when the “Movida Madrileña” movement was blooming. Over the years, it has kept on being a mythical space where people can have fun as the DJs co-work with a dynamic and varied audience. Taboó was conceived as a place for dreams to come true, so it appears as a whimsical space with a surrealist mood in the decoration and an underground charm. The owners usually say that this is a space for “old children”. Alternative music, including reggae, fusion sounds, ethnic music and many other trends are on the programs of this venue. The club is a small place, often crowded (you’ll probably have to wait in the street), with an intimate ambiance, a place for you to share your night with friends, have some drinks, enjoy music you like, and discovering new music from all over the world.
