Tangent Gallery / Hastings Street Ballroom

The Tangent Gallery was built with a mission to discover, curate, and develop meetings, assemblies, and productions that showcase the diverse world of Detroit art, music, and dramaturgy to international audiences.

Its goal is to host Artwork, Performance art, Music, DJ’s, Warehouse Weddings, or any reason to throw a party and bring people together.

The overall foot print is just less than 11,000 square feet with 6400 square feet available for guests.
While the Tangent Gallery has hosted legendary artists and legendary shows they are underground and eclectic enough to whet anyone’s desire for a great time.

What to Expect:

The principal gallery is 30′ x 60′ and boasts twenty-foot ceilings. The room’s outstanding proportions are large enough to scale the biggest canvas or sculpture. There is an 8’x10′ bay door allows for big objects. The key gallery and mezzanine fills with sun light filtering in from four 6×12′ sky-lights. In addition, it includes a mezzanine which makes for a fantastic VIP area overlooking the entire gallery.

Sound within the gallery reverberates and is perfect for acoustic acts with little or no amplification necessary. The gallery is linked to a concessions area with a custom sculpted bar produced from recycled steel.

Online reviews indicate that the Tangent Gallery hosts a wide range of events spanning from film festivals to rock, electronic and hip-hop shows.
