The Chicago Theatre

Located in The Loop area of Chicago, the splendor of The Chicago Theatre regularly leaves its guests speechless. The stylish reception, regal stairway and wonderful auditorium detailed with murals over the stage and ceiling, are parts of an astonishing building which first opened up its doors on the 26th of October, 1921.

In 1986, the theatre was saved from demolition through a joint effort from the City of Chicago and the Chicago Theatre Restoration Associates. Ever since that time, a range of the entertainment world’s most brilliant celebrities and best stage shows have adorned the stage, including but not limited to, the Allman Brothers Band, Arcade Fire, Blues Traveler, Kelly Clarkson, Harry Connick Jr., Ellen DeGeneres, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Kathy Griffin,, Gipsy Kings, Indigo Girls, Alicia Keys, Robin Williams, Lyle Lovett, Oasis, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Van Morrison, Widespread Panic and David Letterman.

What to Expect:

Those who have had the opportunity to visit The Chicago Theatre will tell you while it has a very classy ambiance it is also quite reasonably priced. Past guests will also tell you that while The Chicago Theatre is very loud during a concern, it is also a great venue for children’s plays due to both the acoustics and the 3,600 seat auditorium.

Parking should never be a problem as a parking garage provides off-street parking. However, since the auditorium is filled with 3,600 seats, The Chicago Theatre is not thought of a place that you would let loose and start dancing while watching your favorite performer on stage. This being said, past patrons of The Chicago Theatre have said that Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are the best nights to visit this storied venue.
