The Monster

This long standing haunt is one of the best gay-friendly joints in New York. With a classic dance floor that has been in place since the 1930’s, a pianist playing showtunes without respite, and the eye-catching cabaret acts, The Monster is a delight to attend.

The cozy piano bar on the top side offers intimacy, while the spacious dance floor on the bottom features some amazing drag shows that star notables like Jesse Volt and Laritza DuMont. The foot-tapping numbers from in-house DJ’s Tony Cruz and Warren Gluck make you want to keep coming back. A few guest DJs come in to entertain the crowds every once in a while.

Pour in during happy hour and stick around for the basement show. Enjoy music mixes by Jesse Volts on Wednesday nights and Barbara Herr on Mondays at midnight. The weekend is all about the go-go boys and the thumping atmosphere. The weekend cover charge ($3-$7) is no measure of the amount of fun to be had at this hotspot.
