About The Parish Austin

Located in the heart of downtown Austin in the historic district of 6th Street, The Parish is arguably the best indoor live music venue in Austin that offers the highest quality production for artists and events alike. With a 450 capacity, The Parish has hosted musical legends such as Pete Townshend, Slash, and Perry Farrell as well as independent artists such as Grizzly Bear and Yeasayer. It is an all-genres venue that provides an intimate, live music experience for all music fans.

While the phrase “Everything’s bigger in Texas” is usually reserved for talking about giant steaks, it can definitely be applied to The Parish. This massive venue can easily hold over 400 people, and boasts some of the best acoustic design in all of Texas. In fact, the team at The Parish takes the production and staging process seriously enough to have a full list of gear available on their site for quick viewing. That’s probably why it’s not surprising to find that people like Pete Townshend, Ben Gibbard, and My Morning Jacket have graced the stage of The Parish with their performances. And while The Parish is definitely the place to catch a big name show, the venue still hosts corporate, and private events.

The Parish is much different than the flooding of trendy night spots that have become its neighbors. Most every single event that takes place here is a strictly ticketed affair, with most shows having a reputation for being short on tickets at the box office, so don’t expect to guest list check your way through lines here unless you’re related to the owners. One of the benefits for older folks that like to relax when they take music in is the fact that The Parish is supplemented by a full menu restaurant and bar that operates just underground of the venue itself. Sharing the same name with The Parish, this ensures that you’ll have some great food, and drinks, and not have to worry about missing surprisingly great opening acts, or worse… getting crappy seats.

So if you’ve planned your trip to Austin a little in advance, and manage to catch a ticket to a show  at The Parish, you’re probably going to have a great time at the hands of an attentive staff in a great space.
