About The Wonder BarAnother of the long list of historic and venerable Asbury Park, NJ rock n roll venues, the Wonder Bar keeps true to its hardscrabble, blue-collar roots. Live music, cheap drinks, and the kind of food you would expect from a dive bar/live music venue (which is to say, either eat beforehand, or get drunk enough you won’t worry about eating fried bar food). The décor is kind of old school 50’s nostalgia, mostly dive bar, with plenty of character.
As is the case with most old-school, legit, rock n roll bars in New Jersey, Wonder Bar hosts a long list of up-and-comers, locals, and local legends. It has played host to Springsteen and Bon Jovi at various times, as well as the occasional pop princess like Charli XCX.
Located on the Asbury Park boardwalk, in the midst of all the Jersey Shore madness, Wonder Bar features a good-sized bar, a good sound system, a great stage and dance floor (the place says it holds 2,000 indoor and outdoor), and plenty of windows and open doors to keep air circulating during those summer nights when the place is packed to the gills with sweaty rock kids doing what sweaty rock kids do. Aside from that the crowd is pretty diverse, and depends mostly on who is playing.
Also of note at Wonder Bar is Yappy Hour. Which is its doggie friendly happy hour/canine get together.
