About Tipitina’s

From the day it first opened its doors, Tipitina’s has been a labor of love. Opened in 1977 by a group of friends who wanted to create a place for one of their favorite performers, Henry Roeland Byrd, the venue has been open since and has evolved with an ever-changing group of musicians and several different owners.

Today you can check out artists like Cocorosie, Cajun Fais Do-do, Lupe Fiasco, and The Uptown Getdown. Fans of local music and local venues can sign up for the VIP Club, which requires a substantial membership fee but comes with perks like two tickets to every show for an entire year, VIP treatment for select shows, and the ability to buy additional tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

If you find a show you want to see here, you can spend your money without guilt: This is a not-for-profit venue. All proceeds go to support childhood music education, the development of adult musicians, and the preservation of Louisiana music.

Drinks can be pricey, with beers averaging $5 a bottle, but check out their Friday night summer series, which is free to the public and features some of the best up and coming Louisiana bands.
