Varsity Theater

Varsity Theater is a unique venue that’s capable of hosting almost any event, from a traditional wedding, to a rendition of a Shakespearean drama, to modern dance performances, to Baroque recitals, to trade shows – and yes, of course, the best live music from around the world. This is a space that can be anything, depending on the crowd.

Events range in price from $7 to $35, and are always a few bucks cheaper if you buy them in advance. Keep an eye on their website to see special shows that offer discounts for bringing in a canned good or two. Most shows are 18+, though some are 16+, with a few 21+ thrown in.

The majority of shows open to the public are general admission, though some have the option of reserved and VIP seating. You can purchase these special tickets online, or stop by The Loring Pasta Bar, half a block away, during certain hours. The Electric Fetus also offers ticket sales, but be sure to call ahead to either location to be sure they have some on hand.

Recent acts have included Tori Kelly, Suicidegirls: Blackheart Burlesque Tour, Jake Miller, and Three of Clubs. The vibe in the crowd will vary from mosh pit to slowly swaying, from a huge dance party to a more subdued rock vibe. It’s all what you make of it at the Varsity Theater.
