About Watergate

The Watergate club opened its doors in 2002 and is famous for its LED-light installations and its immaculate music policy. The club is located at the gateway between East and West = Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, directly at the “Oberbaumbrücke” bridge with great views through from floor to ceiling glass onto Berlin’s famous river “Spree”.

Minimalistic interior, leather suites along the windows, fluoro lamps on two floors and a beautiful outdoor deck, accessible in summer if weather permits, where you can chill to lighter house sounds while the crowd is dancing away above you on reasonably sized dancefloors.

With a fantastic sound, the Watergate is home turf to some of Berlin’s top DJs like Ellen Allien, Tiefschwarz and Sasha Funcke, spinning their Electro, House or Drum’n’Bass records. This is regularly topped with visits from international names like Andrew Weatherall and Jamie Jones. On calmer weekdays, the club opens its doors to avantgarde live acts and multimedia events.

A little pricey for Berlin, but the drinks are strong and keep you going all night. Make sure to come early as you’ll be facing serious queues otherwise.
