About Windup SpaceThe Windup Space first opened its doors back on May 16, 2008 and continues to flourish.
The bar is large and cozy: solid maroon and gray walls frame assorted local art and give the space an unhurried vibe, as did a DJ spinning relaxed electronic music at a volume just about perfect to compete with the North Avenue traffic.
What to Expect:
The space itself is sullen and subdued, making it the perfect location to have a few drinks and still maintain a decent level of sexy. The couches by the entry seem to summon you to exchange secrets with a special someone or quietly hipster-watch.
The Windup Space truly is industrial enough that you will feel comfortable walking in wearing jeans and sneakers (as most people wear), yet the modern art gallery and brightly painted walls loan an atmosphere of chic which makes you feel like it is ok to be spending your whole Saturday evening there in a made-for-Baltimore-clubbing dress or dress pants.
However, many previous partygoers recommend that going the uber-casual hipster/grunge route will undoubtedly be in your best interest, especially on a Tuesday, Thursday or Friday night.
