- Intro
DJ Larry Tee
DJ Larry Tee is on a mission of utmost fashion importance. First he injected vibrancy into the NYC club scene when he joined up with infamous club kid and party monster Michael Alig for the notorious Disco 2000 parties. He reinvigorated dancefloors when he founded the electroclash sound. And now he’s helping party people look prime with his fashion line TZUJI. He did write Ru Paul’s catwalk anthem “You Better Work,” so it was fate his designs get strutted around as well. Larry gave DJOYbeat an exclusive peak at his latest designs.

Jooouge-ie
“The brand is called TZUJI, because when we need to fix something, we say ‘tszuj’ [pronounced jooouge or zhuj] it up, which I think is an old Yiddish term,” Larry explains. “The idea is you need those clothes when you’re going to something special or a step-and repeat, when you go on vacation or to a nightclub, you really want that outfit where you go ‘Oh my god, I feel so hot.’ A lot of it is also real comfy stuff that you can wear anywhere. It depends on what what you choose, you don’t have to pick stuff that screams.”

Save the Humans
“The theme for this particular collection is called Save The Humans because, just on a practical level, if the humans aren’t around, who’s gonna buy the swag?” laughs Larry. Our heroes in this cheeky collection are a little robot and T-Rex (as printed in the featured image on the female model’s sheer dress and the male’s shorts).

Mix-and-match
One for you, and one for me. Or both for me. Just unzip and reverse or swap halves with a friend. Versatility and keeping it fabulous are a major bonus with TZUJI. “I think, ‘What will get them? What will let ‘em have it?’ So it’s really a brand where you can sneak in pieces that are more discreet, but for the most part it’s for when you want to get noticed.”

Your clothes are dancing even when you aren't...
“This one is a 3D print and we use prints on sheer fabrics printed with the same information as the T-shirt underneath,” Larry says of the iridescent fabric you have to see in person to believe, then subsequently be memorized by for hours.

Dibs!
Forget those Disco Hoodies you see popping up in Facebook ads, THIS is the ultimate fabulous fabric. “I like things that catch the eye in a weird way,” says Larry. We’re anxiously awaiting the launch of the TZUJI online store so we can nab it.

Festie Bestie
Since ponchos are always fun for festivals, Larry suggests rocking this one at Coachella next year.

Disco 2000
But let’s talk about this jacket, though. From Larry Tee’s Disco 2000 collection, even Brittney Scott couldn’t resist trying this eye-catching high-collared funtastic coat on (she’s that one chick who’s sorta Internet famous for drawing crude faces akin to you doodling in MS Paint for 2.5 seconds by the way).
“The foil jacket, this is a total rockstar,” Larry says. “This print is actually photographed foil, so when you see it from a distance you go, ‘Wow, are they wearing foil?’ But up close you realize it’s a print!”
