Hove Festival at Hoveleirsenter

Held on the island of Tromoy, just outside of Arendal, Hove Festival is the largest music festival in Norway. One of the unique aspects of this event is the fact that it’s family friendly: there is no age restriction and children under the age of 12 are admitted for free.

It’s also an environmentally neutral festival, which is accomplished by the purchase of carbon offsets for all power and transportation that’s used during and before the festival, and by the sorting and recycling of all trash. The environmental preparation for Hove Festival is largely done by volunteers, and in recent years there have been more than 2,500 non-paid workers on hand working a variety of jobs, from security to kitchen-duty, to stage hands.

There are several different areas within the festival: Camp Area, Zero Aero, and Festival Area. The Camp Area has a capacity of 10,000 and is open 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the festival. The Festival Area is essentially a merchandise area, and the Zero Area is where you’ll find delicious eats.

The 2014 lineup is shaping up to be their best yet, and includes Ellie Goulding, Imagine Dragons, Bastille, Martin Garrix, Disclosure, M.I.A., The Offspring, and Of Mice & Men.
