About The Garden FestivalThe 2015 Garden Festival will be going out with a bang as it will be the last.
The Garden Festival is a unique experience which has inspired the now burgeoning music scene in Croatia. Founded back in 2006 by Nick and Charlotte Colgan and Eddie and Gail O’Callaghan, it has evolved into a perfect blend of holiday and festival like no other, attracting a global audience to a truly beautiful part of the world.
With their young families, the quartet started their new lives in Croatia over a decade ago and have nurtured The Garden Festival from a gathering of just a few hundred people into an intimate, boutique and enchanting experience like no other. As much as the music itself is important, the ethos is to create a thrilling, enriching and fun-filled festival each summer, to dance the day away under the sizzling sun and party long into the night under star-speckled skies.
As The Garden Festival began to capture everyone’s imagination, with stellar live acts and DJs sound-tracking each event, the rumours of paradise began to spread and it drew fun-seekers from all over the world for adventure and inspiration in a Croatian odyssey. On the same site other festivals began to grow too – Electric Elephant, Soundwave, Suncebeat and Stop Making Sense all bringing their own perspective and different crowds to the region, creating a unique “festival season” in the same location, spread throughout each sultry summer, and Croatia’s reputation as a festival destination began to soar.
Then in 2012, after six years in Petrcane, The Garden Festival moved to its new home in Tisno, a little further down the Dalmatian coastline. The Garden Tisno is set in a gently hilly area which overlooks a beautiful bay, complete with sandy beach and crystal clear waters, with onsite accommodation available including luxury Shikar tents, Podpads and apartments. Tisno itself – split between the mainland and the island of Murter, joined by a 20m rising bridge, is just a ten-minute walk away, a charming picture-perfect town with many restaurants, cafes, apartments and hotels. Here The Garden Festival has really found its home, retaining the same intimacy yet feeling more like a festival too. With the Adriatic waters lapping against the shore, islands dotted in the distance, the sense of never being in a rush and with all the time in the world, there really is no place like it.
