Cut Chemist @ Irving Plaza (September 4 and 5)

Irving Plaza is set to drop two rounds of funky hip-hop on your ears courtesy of L.A.’s Cut Chemist. If you don’t know Cut Chemist’s contributions to the scenes, brush up. This dude has been instrumental in some incredible music projects along the way. Find out what he’s up to this weekend for sure.

The Weekend Rundown

Thursday, September 4

Mauro Gi @ Cielo

Mauro’s SoundCloud lists a 2013 Sex-Ed Xmas party as one of his upcoming events. He might want to update that. For those not waiting around for Christmas 2013 to come back in their lives, check out Mauro on Friday at Cielo. House and a little bit of dark stuff should be in the mix.

Psychedelic & Disco House Soiree in the Stilton House @ Output

No cover, you say? As any broke New Yorker knows, free is the best way to be. Thanks to Output, your Thursday night should be set (drinks not included) for the low, low price of $free.99. Psychedelic and Disco House Soiree just makes the whole thing that much better. For most New Yorkers, we’ll go to anything free in this city.

Skrillex @ Marquee

After missing his Jack U set on Sunday at Electric Zoo thanks to the weather, Skrillex returns to NYC for a solo stint at Marquee. Get ready for a packed fit as Marquee knows how to put those bodies in the building. Add on top the fact that one of music’s biggest names will be there and you should know what to expect. Anyone need me to breakdown what Skrillex sounds like at this point? No? Ok, I’ll see myself out then.

Friday, September 5

Girls & Boys presents Pierce Fulton, Elephante @ Webster Hall

Big room isn’t always everyone’s thing. If you’ve seen a few of these previews you might guess that this writer isn’t the hugest fan. That is, until a quality producer does big room. With Pierce Fulton, that is the exact case. Check him out for yourself at Webster Hall, which is sure to be a PLURrific evening.

EDX @ Pacha

EDX brings the variety of house to Pacha Friday night. Expect some deep, some house and progressive to be in EDX’s arsenal for Midtown Manhattan. As always, expect to be packed in. Pacha and personal space don’t usually vibe well together.

Esscala: Eco @ Cielo

This dude kills it every time. Eco is a vastly underrated trance producer that you should highly consider checking out. He can go 138. He can go softer. He will take you on a trance ride like not many can do. Head to Cielo Friday night.

Guy Gerber @ Marquee

Electronic and a little bit of the deep stuff should be well on hand when Israel’s Guy Gerber steps onto the decks. Again, expect Marquee to be packed. Then again, when a club continues to book solid artists, it’s hard to say no. Heads up, dudes kinda have to pay different prices some of the time. Watch out for that.

More Fridays presents Rudimental DJ Set @ Slake

The usual four-piece band is doing the DJ thing at Slake. Coming over from the UK, the group should put on an interesting set that will most likely include some of their previous collaborators. Head to Slake to find out for yourself what the guys bring to decks.

Saturday, September 6

Erick Morillo @ La Marina

Recently dropping the collaboration “Devotion,” Erick Morillo is set to hit La Marina in Manhattan. The upper part of Manhattan doesn’t always get so much love, so it’s good to see Erick dropping in. Head up this Saturday for some top notch house.

Art Department @ Provocateur

Never to be fans of pre-made sets, the Canadian veterans are sure to bring their signature style of house to Provocateur on Saturday. Provocateur is mostly known for being a happening spot to lounge or dance. Prices can run high, but it’s the Meat Packing District. If you didn’t know that by now you probably haven’t been hanging out around there.

Max Vangeli @ Lavo

San Fran’s Max Vangeli is back in town at Lavo this Saturday night. Bringing the clap-happy, big-room bass, Max should be able to build you up before knocking all the energy right out of you. Obviously, he loves to “Bang the Drumz,” so expect nothing short of that from him this weekend.

Technoir: Yolanda Be CoolBixel Boys @ Slake

House with a funkier spin will be the predominant sound of Slake this Saturday night. Yolanda Be Cool and the Bixel Boys are both solid at putting together quality house that won’t have you wondering if the same track has been on for six hours. Head to Slake for some fresh sounding house music.

brite nites feat. Victor Niglio @ Webster Hall

Wanna get ratchet this weekend? You know brite nites will have you covered there. Hop into your best shorts that leave 90 percent of your ass hanging out, and get ready to blow that energy out set to Mr. Niglio.

Sundays on The Roof with Garth B2B Jenö & Paul Raffaele @ Output

Looking for some acid house? If so, you should see Jenö do his thing to cap off your weekend. The roof won’t be able to do this much longer. Enjoy it while you can with some acid on the roof. House that is…

Tony’s Hot Since 83: Joey Anderson, Rick Wade, Anthony Collins, & Justin Miller @ Secret Location

Ohhhh a secret. Actually, the TBA shows seem to be the best ones. Or they end up in family restaurants in Park Slope (kinda serious about that one). Check out some more quality house at an undetermined location. Let us know how it was if you ended up going!

Mister Sunday with Justin Carter @ Industry City

Mister Saturday Night’s Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter have been killing it together for some time now. With Mister Sunday, they get to do their thing closing out the weekend. No offense to these other events, but check out Justin Carter whenever you get the chance. This is how you end a weekend right here.
