Phoenix/Scottsdale Weekend Preview May 29-June 1, 2014

Though this is a quiet weekend here in the Phoenix area on the EDM front—guessing because of the 104 degree heat—there’s still ways to get your EDM fix. We’re thinking outside the EDM box–but don’t worry, only for this weekend. And we still included ways to indulge your inner EDM persona here in the wild west, so don’t stop reading now.

Thursday, May 29

Burlesque Show at W Scottsdale

Listen to hits from “Chicago,” “Moulin Rouge,” and “Burlesque” all while watching burlesque dancers perform three to five minute routines.

Friday, May 29

DJ Smite at Crescent Ballroom

Hit the downtown Phoenix scene and listen to some EDM and even get funky with some Motown with this DJ at the Crescent Ballroom.

Flashlight Tour in the Desert Botanical Garden

We realize these are not the type of flashing lights you were looking for this weekend, but when the sun goes down here in the desert, the temperature lower with it, so it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors in 75 degree night weather before it turns into 100 degree night weather. Yes, we’re serious about that.

Saturday, May 31

Chet Faker and Sweater Beats at Crescent Ballroom

This electronic musician from Australia won “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” in October 2012 and has since won a few other awards based on his hit singles. His electronic sound is mixed with soulful notes of R&B. Get ready for an experience.

Sweater Beats follow in sound with their steady electronic beats and R&B baby-making music. Trust us on this one.

Talking Stick Release Pool Party at Talking Stick Resort

Cool your jets in this 100 plus degree weather by hitting the Talking Stick Release pool parties. This Saturday enjoy electro beats by DJ Serafin with cocktail specials to keep you cool. You can even indulge by getting a cabana for you and your friends so you can pop in and out of the sun as you please.

Phoenix Soul Party at Zia Record Exchange

Beats will be dropped, and we mean the real vintage beats from back when, during this Phoenix Soul Party and Zia Record Exchange by none other than John Dixon, a 60-something who goes by DJ Johnny D. We know what you’re thinking, but he’s been droppin’ dem beatz since before we could walk or were even a thought. If you’re looking to get real with an esteemed DJ who has seen it all and trained the best, this is the place to be.

Sunday, June 1

Sunday Phunday at Maya Day + Night Club

End your week with a bang and make it a Sunday Funday at Maya. Get in the pool, have some champagne and show off your new L*Space bikini.

Billy Joel at US Airways Center

We know you love your EDM and there’s nothing that compares, but let’s be honest, Billy Joel is a legend. We had to include this because…it’s Billy Joel. Indulge in your inner old school rock and roll persona and go to this concert.
