Boondocks

Having been a gay club formerly, “Boondocks” brings a Rock’n’Roll dive bar hangout vibe to Houston’s Montrose area.  With a reputation of its “unpretentiousness” and of being one of the best music venues in Houston, this two-story club welcomes tight pants, thrift-store-fashion and black skull/crossbones T-shirts, making it a great place for people-watching.

With a couple of booths, seats, a mini bar and a small dancefloor upstairs, which is regularly being filled by local and touring DJs on the weekend, spinning their turntable to anything from Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, 90s, Nu Disco to Electro, there is also an area downstairs, sporting a full bar and a few seats to chill. If you need a break from showing off your dance moves, land a seat on the patio to cool off.

Besides the great and chilled atmosphere, it is also the well-mixed drinks that are easy on the wallet and keep people flocking back in.

For people who like to get away from “stilettoed blondes and meatheads in tight shirts”, usually frequenting the more upscale bars in Houston.
