About La Java

Opened in 1925, in the glass-floored and glass-walled Palais du Commerce, which is now an official historical monument, the “bal musette” dance hall La Java has defied the decades as one of the most popular dance venues in Paris.  From Piaf, Frehel, and Django Reinhardt to today’s international artists and DJs, this venue has made a smooth and constant musical transition; maintaining its traditional “bal musette” spirit and yet catering to today’s tastes in modern urban music.  An impressive list of DJs and groups have played here, with a long list of names such as Mathieu Boogaerts, JP Nataf, Ziveli Orkestar, Arnaud Rebotini, Sanseverino, Holden, Jim Murple Memorial, Irma, Aquarius Heaven, Bot’Ox, Dee Nasty, Dgiz, Janski Beeeats, La Scana Del Domingo, Joëlle Léandre, Fantazio, Acid Washed, The Magician, Etienne Jaumet, Las Ondas Marteles, We Were Evergreen, ARLT, Andrade, DGIZ, Kim, Hugh Cornwell, Aqua Nebula Oscillator, R.Wan, Alice Lewis, Jason & The Scorchers, and Tav Falco.  Cover charge is 8-10 euros with reductions for guests who arrive before midnight.  Cash only at the door.  Credit cards accepted at the bar for payments 16 euros and up.  Smart, casual dress code.  The club opens on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (please see scheduling) from 11:00 PM to dawn.
