Piper Club

Opened at the end of the 1960s, Piper has been a staple of Rome for more than a generation and one of the most famous clubs in Italy, it still maintains its popularity as a guide in new trends. Recently it has brought back its original club style (it had become more of a discotheque), hosting various live music events with emerging names of the pop, rock and indie scene. Established as an icon of anti-conformism and contestation, Piper as always been known for its brash clientele: young controversial people dressed very eccentrically.

It’s here that the miniskirt was born, crashing through all boundaries of that time. It is also one of the birthplaces of the modern way that people dance to music, following the rhythm rather than executing steps. This anti-big brother atmosphere has drawn many huge names of the music industry like Pink Floyd, the Who, Equipe 84, and Patti Bravo. Today Piper might not be able to compete with its old self, but they still organize, on Friday and Saturday, some alternative events with international DJs mixing Electro and House music.
