About The Cellar

Located in the heart of Union Square, the aptly named Cellar is situated down a atmospherically lit flight of brick stairs, leading into two rooms of dancing and music, with two bars, including a pretty spiffy looking wraparound piece, as well as a number of VIP/bottle service sections.

The 300-persson capacity space’s interior is a mix of brushed metal, chrome accents, exposed brick arches, and some vaguely art deco-inspired installations, giving it a sort of semi-modern feel.  Bottle service sections outfitted with maroon and blue velvet couches run down one side of the main room across from the bar, partially closed off by art deco screens. Additional sections are scattered around the space.  The other room is mostly dance floor with some seating and another bar.  There are also some pool tables should dancing not be your thing, and for those of you who like to drink and pose, there is a photo booth tucked away in back.

Both rooms feature their own DJ setup and lighting systems, and play host to a rotating cast of local favorites and up-and-coming talent.  The music trends towards hip hop, although you can usually find some EDM in the smaller room. Mondays are mashups, and the weekends are Top 40 and hip hop.  You can and should check their website for more details on the lineup. Best bet for EDM is the weekly Tuesday dubstep party.

The Cellar is fairly casual during the week, with pretty wide selection of happy hour specials, but gets a little upscale on the weekends.  Aim for trendy urban chic, but be mindful of the dress code (no sneakers, no hats).  The crowd is younger, a little more rowdy, and definitely doesn’t mind the sweaty jam-packed atmosphere The Cellar can offer.
