Located in the Brooklyn hipster outpost of Williamsburg, Output has a focused, minimalist, approach to clubbing.  Clubbing is about dancing, therefore the sound system will be the best money can buy in the form of a Funktion One.  The DJs will be a mixture of the biggest names, like Carl Cox, Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, up-and-coming acts like SBTRKT, and underground heroes on the cutting edge of dance music, like Francois K, and Austria’s Cassy, who was their first resident.  You will not hear top 40, you will not hear pop. Pitbull is a dog, not a recording artist at Output. There will be no bottle service, there will be no VIP section, there will be no real dress code, and not much of a door policy past “don’t be an ass”.  There will be no pictures (literally, they will ask you to delete them and then kick you out), because clubbing is about dancing not posing for Instagram moments.  There will be no ornate furniture, no fancy art installations, no Asian hardwood bar built from the reclaimed beams of the first Japanese dance club.

There will be a warehouse, big enough for 450+ people, with a non-descript façade, and inside its industrial DNA – exposed I-beams, metal staircases, and dirty skylights – will be visible against the black-painted walls.  The lighting displays will be minimal, and mostly neon, because lighting should enhance the music, not distract from it.  The dance floor will be have a raised DJ booth, backed by a neon light-wall, on top of a stage at its end, and spacious a mezzanine with plenty of chillout seating and balcony space overlooking the floor.  Two bars, one upstairs, one down, will serve drinks, at New York prices, but quickly and efficiently.

You will dance and mingle with a mid-twenties-early-thirties mix of Brooklyn hipsters, artists, creative types, EDM scenesters, people so cool you won’t even know who they are for another five years, and more importantly dance music lovers. Stylish, casual, or trendy, but utterly unpretentious will be the dress code.
